Freedom from Poverty Bike Rodeo & Family Fun Ride

On July 8, 2010, the Freedom Financial Services Freedom from Poverty bike ride, a one-day, metric century ride from America the Beautiful Park in downtown Colorado Springs to Palmer Lake, where they will meet up with the national Cycling for Change team, have lunch, and return to America the Beautiful Park for a community celebration.

The Freedom Financial Services Freedom from Poverty Community Celebration will take place at America the Beautiful Park from 2pm – 7pm.  There will be:

• live music throughout the day
• Bristol Brewing Company will be providing beer and root beer
• Kiva Juice will be giving away juice
• food vendors providing various food choices
• social service agency fair to provide information on their agencies and to recruit volunteers
• a KIDZONE providing crafts and face painting for the children

Additionally, across the street in the old Cottonwood Academy Building, the Freedom Financial Services Kids Bike Rodeo will be held in conjunction with Metro Rides, Kids On Bikes, the Academy Optimist Club, Memorial Childrens’ Hospital, and Marian House.  There will be various safety courses for children to either learn for the first time, or to get a refresher course, bike safety information.  A limited number of children from the community will receive brand new bikes courtesy of Metro Rides in conjunction with the Kids On Bikes Pedal Program.  Finally, after the rodeo, the children will have the opportunity to decorate their bikes and participate in a bike parade with the Cycling for Change national team and the local Freedom from Poverty riders around America the Beautiful Park.  there will aslo be a Family Fun Ride through Monument Valley Park, led by the Colorado Springs Cycling Club.
