Peak Producers & Catholic Charities Form Partnership to help needy families in Colorado Springs

Peak Producers, a group representing the top 10% of real estate agents in the Pikes Peak region, has joined in a partnership with Catholic Charities Marian House Life Support Services to sponsor several families throughout the year to help them move towards a higher level of self-sufficiency, and to explore other ways of working together to help those most in need in our community.

On June 23rd, a reception will be held at the Marian House to introduce the entire Peak Producers group of 69 agents and their guests to the programs of the Catholic Charities and the Marian House.   “In the past, we have had many businesses sponsor families in our programs for Christmas or Thanksgiving, but this will be the first time we have joined forced with an organization to support multiple families throughout the year.  The plan will be to support two families during holidays with presents and the celebration meal.  Then, throughout the year, the family might need support with school supplies, hygiene items, or occasional rental and/or utility assistance, or maybe a pair of glasses for one of the children,” said Rochelle Schlortt, director of communications for Catholic Charities.  “We will just see how it develops and how this might serve as a template for other organizations who want to have a direct impact on the life of a family.  The sky is truly the limit for where this unique partnership might take us.”

The group, formed in 2009, is made up of the top ten percent of all real estate agents in the Pikes Peak Region.  The group wanted to promote professionalism within the industry, but more importantly, to support and give back to the community as well as endorse local charities.  Factors which influenced these decisions included helping the homeless, cleaning up the tent cities, and filling short-falls where local government couldn’t.

The charity chosen in 2010 was “Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful”, which is tied to the Marian House and other organizations that help the homeless.  Keep Colorado Beautiful has been responsible for the cleaning and relocation of tent cities throughout Colorado Springs.  They also clean up intersections, parks, and roads.  More than simply donating funds, the members of the Peak Producers contributed countless hours of their time and energy to improve the community.

Marian House is the charity chosen for 2011 by the Peak Producers.  The direct sponsorship of families in need is just the next step in the group’s philosophy of giving back to the communities where they work and live.  This sponsorship will allow members not only to contribute items the families might need, but to get involved on a more personal level in the lives of these families.
