Marian House Provides Income Tax Service to Clients

For the 4th year, Catholic Charities will offer the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) to families and individual;s with a household income of $50,000 or less.  Volunteers will be on site at the Hanifen Center at Marian House (14 West Bijou Street) each Saturday through tax season, January 28 – April 14, from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.  Returns are filed electronically only.  No mail returns are processed through this program.

 

To have taxes completed the individual, spouse, and dependents will need to bring:

  • Photo ID
  • Social Security Cards
  • Birthdates
  • Copy of last year’s tax return (if you have it)
  • Wage and Earning statements (Form W-2, W-2G, 1099R) from each employer
  • Interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099)
  • Bank account and routing number if you wish a direct deposit of your refund (its free with VITA)
  • For filing a Joint Return – both spouses must be present to sign the return
  • For Day Care Expenses – total amount paid and Day Care Provider’s Tax ID Number

 

If you plan to itemize your deductions please have:

  • Charitable Contribution Statements
  • Home Mortgage Insurance Statements
  • Home Tax Statement
  • Home Interest Statements
  • Car Registration
  • Medical statements

Marian House is located at 14 West Bijou Street.  For tax preparation, please enter through the courtyard, then go to the right into the SET Clinic waiting room.  Tax preparation is on a walk-in basis:  no appointments are necessary.
