Marian House Needs Hygiene Products
Marian House is in need of small sized hygiene products such as shampoo & conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc. Each year, more than 30,000 hygiene items are distributed to those in need through our various programs and are a prized item.
Although many of our clients receive food stamps to help them feed their families, food stamps do not allow for the purchase of basic items such as shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Laundry detergent, household cleansers, body wash, and deodorant are also not allowed, so unless there is extra cash, these items are usually obtained through social service agencies.
The lack of access to hygiene items is a real barrier for many to feel secure interviewing for a job: they can get food, but they don’t have the resources to get clean. If you travel, consider collecting the small shampoo and conditioners that many hotels provide for their guests. These are great sizes to distribute to those in need. We also accept the “medium” sized containers that are found in most retail stores.
